The 'brains' and 'action' heavies who had meaty roles and lots of dialog ... and the players who were fathers, ranch owners, lawman, mayors, judges, lawyers, storekeepers, newspaper editors, wardens, etc.

Above is a shot of Chuck Cason in the uncredited role of "Deputy Pete" on the James Garner MAVERICK TV series (in episode "Holiday at Hollow Rock" (1958)).
Special thanks to Bob Cason, Chuck Cason's grandson, for sharing information and photos on Chuck and John/Bob Cason.

Chuck Cason was the younger brother of John 'Bob' 'Lefty' Cason (1918 - 1961).

Chuck did some doubling / stuntwork and henchman roles in the 1950s. And both brothers worked on the KIT CARSON TV series.

According to a family tree on Ancestry.com as well as the Find A Grave memorial biography, Charles Thayer 'Chuck' Cason became a self-employed heavy equipment operator in the early 1960s. He passed away at Loma Linda Medical Center, Loma Linda, San Bernardino County, California, on August 21, 1984 from kidney failure. The Find A Grave memorial (link below) was written by Chuck's oldest son, Charles Steven Cason.

Although some of the data is incomplete or inaccurate, the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) has information on Chuck Cason: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm7065744/

Check the buckskin and fringed shirt on Chuck as he was doubling/stunting for KIT CARSON star Bill Williams. The difficult to read autograph in the bottom right reads: "To Chuck and Bob, Clayton Moore, The Lone Ranger".
