During the filming of THE BISCUIT EATER (Disney/Buena Vista, 1972) --- Dorothy is sandwiched between two B-western henchies. On the left is Forrest Burns and on the right is Joe Phillips. Silent screen hero and later supporting actor Bob Burns was Forrest Burns' father.

Dorothy's film work began when she was a child, standing in for Natalie Wood. At around two weeks of age, Dorothy portrayed the baby son of Irene Dunne and Fred MacMurray in INVITATION TO HAPPINESS (Paramount, 1939), and another baby role followed in MY SON, MY SON (UA, 1940) with Brian Aherne. Dorothy portrayed youngsters --- and as she grew older, moved into teenage roles --- in films such as MILDRED PIERCE (Warner Bros., 1945) with Joan Crawford; UP IN CENTRAL PARK (U-I, 1948) with Deanna Durbin; ONE SUNDAY AFTERNOON (Warner Bros., 1948) with Dennis Morgan; THE GLENN MILLER STORY (U-I, 1953) with Jimmy Stewart; ATHENA (MGM, 1954) with Jane Powell; and a couple of Elvis Presley films, LOVE ME TENDER (20th C Fox, 1956) and KING CREOLE (Paramount, 1958).

Dorothy has also done a lot of TV work. Her earliest includes a four year stint standing in for Elinor Donahue on FATHER KNOWS BEST which starred Robert Young. Other TV show appearances were in PETTICOAT JUNCTION, GREEN ACRES, THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES, LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRARRIE, DANIEL BOONE, GUNSMOKE, BONANZA, HAVE GUN, WILL TRAVEL, LARAMIE, THE VIRGINIAN, PEYTON PLACE, ALIAS SMITH AND JONES, lots more. In the late 1980s, Dorothy was in Sonora doing her specialty - driving wagons in the film BACK TO THE FUTURE III (photo below). Recently, Dorothy has worked in the TV series DIAGNOSIS MURDER with Dick Van Dyke and PARADISE with Lee Horsley.
